As part of the TRN's Disruption – Dual-Impact Hazards subsection, this tool helps identify natural hazards that may affect both primary energy and/or water supplies and their associated supply redundancies. Hazard frequency estimates are based on FEMA’s National Risk Index for Natural Hazards, or NRI.

Enter as much or as little location information as you are comfortable providing. In most cases, a street address will allow the tool to identify a census tract and provide a more precise frequency estimate; if no census tract is found, the tool will use county-level information when available. Street address, state, and ZIP Code are optional, and users may leave the street address blank to limit site-specific information.

Entering a street address may allow the tool to identify a census tract and provide a more precise hazard frequency estimate. Address information will be sent to the external census.gov geocoding service. If a census tract is found, hazard frequency estimates are based on that tract where available. If not found, the tool uses county-level information when available.
Entering a ZIP code may help identify the state and county. ZIP code alone may not identify a census tract.
Select “Yes” if the area near the site has flooded in the past, if the site is in a flood zone, or if the site’s topography provides the potential for riverine/coastal flooding or flooding from extreme rainfall events. This indicator will prompt the TRN Lite to suggest potential flooding hazards if the site is also in a county or census tract with a non-trivial historical frequency of flooding. If “No” is selected, the TRN Lite will not suggest any flooding hazards or flooding resilience solutions.
